July 15, Opening Night Gala
Featuring adbacadabra, the ultimate ABBA concert

Mama Mia! The pristine West Shore of Lake Tahoe becomes a Mediterranean enclave with the Lake Tahoe Music Festival’s Opening Night Gala featuring adbacadabra, the ultimate ABBA concert. The hugely popular music group brings fashion and flair to the stunning Brushwood Estate to kick off our 2010 season. It’s an opportunity for the Festival to thank our donors and encourage new patrons—all while raising funds for our non-profit festival and our Educational Outreach Programs including the new Orchestra Academy.
With the new resurgence of the 70s, portrayed in part by the hugely popular live musical production and now the world wide release of “Mamma Mia” - The Movie, the music of ABBA is finding its way back into the hearts of those who lived it then and taking over the hearts of those who are experiencing it for the first time now. adbacadabra promises to continue the momentum by performing 20 of the group’s greatest hits including “S.O.S.,” “Super Trooper” and “Dancing Queen” re-created with such precision you’ll swear you were listening to the originals themselves. The melodies of “Fernando” and “Chiquitita” will rekindle those feelings of first loves. “Take a Chance on Me” and “Voulez Vous” will lift you out of your seats to dance!
In addition to phenomenal live music and dancing, the annual Opening Night Gala combines cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, a silent and live auction and gourmet dinner provided, once again, by Executive Chef Mark Estee of Moody’s Bistro and Lounge. Menu highlights include traditional Greek favorites including Greek salad, dolmades and roasted lamb along with a seafood bar, and of course, baklava for dessert.
Complementing the theme, the estate will be decked out with a combination of blues along with seashells and beach glass. Guests should arrive in “seashore elegance.” Set amongst the pines and right on the Lake, it’s an evening not to be missed. Gala Starts at 4:00PM, Dinner is will be served promptly at 5:30PM,, followed by entertainment at 7:00PM.
