Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the LTMF in the Village at Northstar™ this year?
Lake Tahoe Music Festival has forged a new partnership with Vail Resorts, Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort’s new owner, and this summer the Lake Tahoe Music Festival is relocating exclusively to the Village at Northstar for its 29th season!
The Lake Tahoe Music Festival ended the 2010 season with a serious financial shortfall when their donations, sponsorships and ticket sales fell below their expectations and challenged their conservative budget. They scaled back, regrouped, weathered the long winter and are ready for an exciting 2011 season at Northstar-at-Tahoe™ Resort.
Why the move to the Village from mid-mountain?
Under the new Vail Resorts ownership, Northstar Resort has been granted $30 million dollars in capital improvement funding for projects on the mountain including a new chairlift, new ski runs and a new lodge located at the top of the Tahoe Zephyr Express chairlift. The 2010 Festival concert venue at mid-mountain is right in the middle of the construction zone so in the interest of your safety and our desire to provide you with a memorable experience, we felt our best option was to relocate the event venue to the Village. Additionally, with recent improvements we have made in the Village, it is a turn-key event venue with a stage, ample space for guests offering superb viewing options and a state-of-the-art sound system which helps to keep our costs down and allow us to manage our limited budget more effectively. This intimate Village venue will ultimately bring the musicians closer to you and provide an unforgettable mountain concert experience .
If I buy a Preferred Seating ticket do I get a seat?
Yes, all Preferred Seating tickets do include an unassigned seat, it is open seating within the section. Seating for preferred ticket holders is located on the Village Rink and the surrounding areas. Please refer to the venue map for specific seating areas.
If I buy a General Admission ticket do I get a seat?
The Village Center is an intimate outdoor venue with abundant views of the stage throughout General Admission, both seated and standing. There will be bleacher seating for approximately 500 attendees available on a first-come, first-serve basis. We recommend that if you would like to try to get a seat that you arrive early (doors open for each concert at 5:00pm). In General Admission a seat is not guaranteed.
Can I bring my own chair?
For the safety of all of our guests, bringing your own chair will not be allowed. All preferred seating ticket holders will have a seat, but seating is open. General admission ticket holders will either stand or arrive early to secure a seat on one of the bleacher areas.
Can I bring a picnic?
Picnics are allowed, however no outside alcohol of any kind will be allowed into the venue. We will however offer a delicious assortment of dining options within the Village with everything from pizza, sushi, tapas, salads and made to order sandwiches, Belgian waffles, French hot dogs, gelato, BBQ, Starbucks coffee, and more! The Village Overlook lawn and patio area is the ideal location for a picnic.

No outside alcohol is permitted at Northstar Resort. Wine, beer and other alcoholic beverages are available for sale, including wines by the bottle. You must be 21 or older to purchase alcohol beverages and present a valid ID. We understand this breaks a long-standing music festival tradition, but we must abide by CA state liquor license laws.
