History
2010 marks the 28th consecutive season of the Lake Tahoe Music Festival. Founded in 1982 by Edgar Braun, conductor of the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, the Festival has grown in scope yearly with the dedication and involvement of many local residents and businesses. With its scenic venues, over 12,000 expected attendees and the diverse programming of each concert season, the Lake Tahoe Music Festival remains the largest summer cultural event benefiting the local communities and a major attraction throughout the West.
The Lake Tahoe Music Festival is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization with a strong volunteer Board of Directors. All twelve Directors take an active role in the overall business of the organization - from fundraising to special events. In addition, the CEO manages the daily operations and oversees the staging of the festival while working at the direction of the Board. Funds for the festival are raised through individual donors, corporate sponsorships, grants and advertising revenues from the festival’s program. In addition, a large and active volunteer group assists greatly in the smooth operation of the festival.
