As our 28th season comes to a close, the Lake Tahoe Music Festival board and staff would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all. It was a spectacular season, from our Opening night Gala to an evening at West End Beach with America. From Broadway’s Debbie Gravitte at Tahoe Donner to Simply Sinatra with Steve Lippia at Old Greenwood Resort. Then on to Northstar at Tahoe for 3 amazing evenings with Wynonna, Natalie Cole and Michael McDonald. Even rain and hail, did not stop everyone from having fun. The season finished off with Nikki Yanofsky at Martis Camp.
Coupled with our successful inaugural year of the LTMF Orchestra Academy, which hosted 35 residents from 7 countries and 6 states who studied and performed with Orchestra Masters, a Tony award winner and a season entertainer. Our Tahoe Truckee Youth Music Program had its largest number of participants to date! We are so proud to have been a part of all your training.
As a non-profit organization we rely on the support of the community for our financial well-being. Without our dedicated sponsors, donors and ticket purchasers we could not continue to bring these outstanding musical experiences and educational opportunities for aspiring young musicians.
We thank you!

LTMF Launches Orchestra Academy for 2010
Through a reallocation of current funds, the Lake Tahoe Music Festival is launching a new program in the summer of 2010 – the Lake Tahoe Music Festival Orchestra Academy. The program provides world-class training and real-life professional experience to 36 young, aspiring musicians aged 18-22 from across the country.
The students participate in a 10-day program that bridges the gap between college music studies and musical employment. Participating musicians will live at Granlibakken Resort in North Lake Tahoe to rehearse and learn with professionals prior to performing two Lake Tahoe Music Festival concerts and at smaller venues throughout the region.
Principal players drawn from major U.S. orchestras participate in the Academy as instructors, teaching master classes and soloists, coaching student musicians and serving as professional mentors through career planning classes.
Auditions will be conducted through YouTube videos, and applications will be accepted starting in January 2010. Watch for more details coming soon.
